This study aimed to explore the relationship between specific cognitive errors—catastrophizing, overgeneralization, and personalization—and mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress, among adolescents. Additionally, the study sought to investigate gender differences in how these cognitive errors contribute to mental health problems. A quantitative, correlational research design was used, involving a sample of 600 adolescents aged 12-18 years. Standardized instruments, such as the Cognitive Errors Scale (CES), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), and Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), were employed to assess cognitive errors and mental health symptoms. Data were analyzed using SPSS, with descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and t-tests used to evaluate relationships and gender differences. The findings revealed significant positive associations between cognitive errors and mental health problems, such as anxiety, depression, and stress. Additionally, gender differences were observed, with girls reporting higher levels of cognitive errors and more severe mental health distress compared to boys. This study contributes to the literature by offering a deeper understanding of the impact of cognitive errors on adolescent mental health and emphasizing the need for gender-sensitive interventions. The findings are significant for developing targeted therapeutic strategies that address cognitive distortions, ultimately promoting better mental health outcomes for adolescents.
